I Heart Glittery Bananas

Okay, this seems a little silly considering the small numer of people who read this blog, but I am having a giveaway. I always love when blogs give things away, it adds a little excitement to my day. I have wanted to do this for a while, but what in the world would I give away? Well, yesterday while the kids were napping, I made this little box out of cardstock, and then decided to make some coordinating thank you cards. So, what you see is what you get: four "thanks a bunch!" thank you cards stashed inside a coordinating box! Next time I will include envelopes - I am out.
I gussied up the banana with a little bit of glitter!!! Who doesn't love a glittery banana?

To enter, simply answer this question in the comments section: what was your favorite childhood toy? The contest ends 5:00 pm (central time of course) on Friday night. Good luck!

I must include that all products are Stampin' Up.

Ok, I had a yellow microphone. It had little buttons all over it that played different notes/songs. BUT, the coolest thing about it was that you could use it to tune to a radio station and sing into it and hear it on the radio!

Now, I have to also tell you that what it was most frequently used for was to make radio shows with my brothers. We would tune it to a "dead" station and just be able to hear ourselves talking. We would create in depth radio shows, complete with commercial jingles from television that we would sing or play on the keyboard. Several shows were tape recorded and I am sure are around my parents house somewhere.

A long description, but obviously if it was my favorite, there has to be a story behind it.

Well, I am not sure if I am supposed to enter, being family and all. I never had a "specific" favorite toy (my short attention span never allowed it). The one that I enjoyed quit a bit was my BIG WHEEL. That thing was lightning on wheels. People had to step aside when I came thru. I went thru several back tires skidding down the driveway.
If I win, I will donate them back to the cause.

The Pioneer Woman would be so proud! My favorite toy was my Easy Bake oven I got when I was 12 years old. I guess my love for baking started about 42 years ago, huh? I LOVED the idea that I could make chocolate cake and brownies all on my own and watch them BAKE too! It was THE coolest thing EVER.

Our neighbors across the street, the Oswalds, always had the coolest toys and lots of them. The kids were banshees, but, they had cool toys. I remember going over to Linda's (Oswald) one day and there in her garage was the most amazing thing I had ever seen. It was a free standing, not quite turqoise green, just my size, Suzy Easy Bake Oven. I was seven. I had to have one. So, with the greatest of hopes, it was a must on my Xmas list.

And what to my wondering eyes did appear on Christmas morn? No, not a Suzy Easy Bake Oven. Oh, it was an oven, but, to my horror it was brown and it was little. One couldn't even really call it "free standing". It must have been a Sears model. Well, being the well-adjusted 7 year old I was, I recognized that in spite of my "little brown ovens'" modest style, it still allowed me to do what I guess all ovens allow and that is to bake. Once the initial shock was over, I found my "little brown oven" served its function very well. In fact, I felt kind of sorry for Linda's oven because, it was never used. I easily learned to love, appreciate and be proud of my "little brown oven".

Someday, I would like one with 5 burners.

My favorite toy was my sister, Patti. I always had a "friend" to play with since we were only 13 months apart. Our favorite things were playing bakery with play-doh, school with our dolls, playing house under the weeping willow tree, and, as we got older (actually I think I was 13 when I quit), playing with our Barbie's in the basement. Only it was with our Tammy Dolls since our parent's wouldn't let us have a Barbie (her boobs were too big, I guess).
